Virginia Robinson Gardens

The Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills, CA, was named for May Virginia Robinson, the owner of the property. She purchased the property in the 1920s and initially planned to build a hotel on the property, but the Great Depression and then WWII put those plans on hold. She eventually built a Tudor-style mansion on the property, which unfortunately was torn down in 1971. However, her original plans were realized when the gardens on the site were opened to the public in 1973. The gardens feature a number of vibrant colors and native plants, and every major religion is represented. The gardens also feature two fountains, including one that shoots water 20 feet in the air.

The apartments would be built in the space currently occupied by Rose Garden’s outdoor amphitheater, which would be replaced with a lawn. The plan also calls for a hotel and a restoration of the existing theater.
