Architecture in Norma Triangle, West Hollywood. I have been told that Norma Triangle is an architectural treasure trove. Apparently, it is one of the most densely packed areas in Los Angeles with all manner of architectural styles from the first half of the 20th century. I think it is quite cool. I live in Norma Triangle and I have seen many interesting houses and buildings that have been designed by architects. I have tried to capture a few of them here.

The Norma Triangle on the west side of Los Angeles is a nice little pocket of mid-century homes, a few of which were designed by architects who also designed for Hollywood movie studios. One of the most striking is the James Dolena House, a 1955 split-level ranch designed by the same guy who built the mansion in the 1949 Cary Grant movie Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. The house has a bright, open floor plan and large expanses of glass that make it feel almost like a modernist pavilion.

The diversity of Norma Triangle streets ranges from normal residential streets to strips of shops and restaurants. Norma Drive, San Vicente Boulevard, and Santa Monica Boulevard are the most popular streets in Norma Triangle. It is the epicenter of West Hollywood, the gay capital of Los Angeles, the center of L.A.’s nightlife, and the home of the Sunset Strip.
