West Hollywood Park
When the new West Hollywood Park opened in April of 2015, it was billed as the “first park of its kind in the world,” because of the emphasis on health and wellness as well as the arts. The 4-acre park is a place of respite, with walking trails, bike paths, a dog park, and more than 40 public art installations. It is a 1.5-mile-long park in the middle of the city, and it’s older than Los Angeles. In the 1800s, the land was owned by actor Humphrey Bogart. In 1958, the land forever became city property, and in 2005, it was renamed in honor of the city’s first female mayor, Cleta Mitchell. If you’re a beer enthusiast, the West Hollywood Park Beer Garden is the park’s most popular attraction, and it’s available year-round.
The park has a children’s playground, a sports field, a dog park, and shaded picnic terraces. It is the largest of three parks attached to the West Hollywood Recreation Center, and the only one open to the general public. The other two parks are the West Hollywood Pool and the West Hollywood Tennis Center.
Amenities at West Hollywood Park include a dog park, water fountain, $50,000 synthetic turf field, a children’s play area, picnic tables, and a community garden. It’s got a great playground for the kiddos, ample shaded benches for the parents, and a nice grassy area for the four-legged members of your family. It’s a lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon, especially when the weather is nice! If you’re looking for a fun place to take the kids, West Hollywood Park is a great place to go. The playground is large and well-built, and there’s a great play area for kids to climb and explore. There’s also a great grassy area to run around in and plenty of trees and shade to keep you cool. There are even a few picnic tables located near the playground.
It is a good place for novice birders to get their feet wet, as there are many species to see and it is easy to find the birds with a little guidance. It is one of the only places in the city where you can watch the beautiful Brown Pelicans. They are always happy to see people, and they will often bob their heads up and down and make puffy noises.
The park is home to a variety of statues and memorials, including one for the late community activist Sylvia Carpenter, who played a major role in the creation of the park. You can also see a statue honoring actor Will Rogers, who is also buried in the park. The park’s biggest event is the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival, which draws huge crowds to the park.
The playground in West Hollywood Park is a perfect place for the whole family. There are multiple slides for kids, a climbing structure for larger kids and adults, a basketball hoop for the older kids and adults, and a splash pad for the smaller kids. There are lots of benches and picnic tables for a family picnic or a BBQ. The playground is in a nice, shaded area and there is a restroom and water fountain nearby. The playground is on the north side of the parking lot next to the track.
